The Rigging & Signaling program prepares lift-team members to rig loads and communicate with crane operators safely and effectively. Over eight hours of instruction, participants build a practical foundation in crane fundamentals, jobsite safety, rigging hardware and hitches, and the communication and hand-signaling techniques required to guide a lift from start to finish.
The program is organized into four focused courses. Each course targets a distinct competency area, and together they give participants the knowledge and skills needed to support crane operations in accordance with applicable OSHA and ASME standards.
What Participants Will Be Able to Do
- Identify mobile crane types, components, and the factors that determine lifting capacity.
- Apply the OSHA and ASME safety standards that govern crane operations and lift planning.
- Select, inspect, and rig loads using the correct hardware, slings, and hitches.
- Direct a crane operator using both standard hand signals and voice communication.
