AGC Updates - 9.5.17

Take a look at what's happening at AGC in early September.
HELP for Hurricane Harvey Recovery
AGC Charities, Inc., the charitable arm of AGC of America, is supporting members of the AGC family affected by Hurricane Harvey.  AGC is reaching out to provide an avenue to deliver assistance to those affected by this historic, life-altering storm and related flooding. You can support these efforts by contributing to AGC Charities.  AGC Arkansas will be donating and we encourage our members to consider doing the same. Go to http://agccharities.org/assistance-programs/ for more information.

Additionally, a local effort is underway to provide aid through our friends at the American Subcontractors Association of Central Arkansas and ACE Glass. Items can be loaded onto a truck at ACE's Little Rock office at 405 Shall Avenue between now and September 18. There is a great need for supplies for clean-up efforts, i.e. crow bars/hand tools, masks, rubber gloves, cases of bleach, fans, etc. Contact Jeff Ehlers or Adam Bingman at (501)372-0595 for more information.

REMINDER: AGC Arkansas Membership Survey
Please remember to complete a brief 10-question AGC Arkansas membership survey. We encourage all members to participate to help us better serve you. Random drawing from those who participate for a $100 gift certificate to Bass Pro Shop. Click here to begin. Thanks for your participation!

Habitat for Humanity Event
The Central Arkansas chapter of Habitat for Humanity, an AGC Arkansas member, will soon be hosting their signature annual event: ReStore and After Bash. Join them on September 21 at Embassy Suites in Little Rock for this fun-filled and supportive event where information about Habitat's mission will be shared in creative ways and guests will be invited to join in building a home in our community. FLD Participants Needed
Future Leaders Division (FLD) is a very worthwhile program within AGC.  The philosophy behind this endeavor is to help develop the next generation of leadership and management within our community and industry.  There is no cost associated with joining FLD, and any individual within an AGC member company under 40 years of age is eligible to participate and receive announcements about informative and enjoyable activities and events.

We need to continue to look toward the future by getting younger members of our community even more engaged.  Please allow and encourage these individuals to participate in this mutually rewarding experience. Already a member?  Help us recruit others. Contact Beth Franks at bfranks@agcar.net for more information or to sign up.

Vote for Broadway Bridge Project
Voting remains open until September 21 for the Broadway Bridge project, which was named to the 2017 America's Transportation Awards Top 12 list of construction projects and the ‘People's Choice' award.

Several AGC Arkansas members worked on this project: Cranford Construction Company, Gerdan Slipforming, Koontz Electric, Peterson Concrete Tank Company & Time Striping. Suppliers include Forterra Pipe & Precast and Argos. We congratulate our members, their employees, and ArDOT on a job well done!

We encourage you to vote for this project by going to http://AmericasTransportationAwards.org and choosing “Vote Now”.  Then submit your vote for this project.  Individuals can vote once each day until the contest deadline on September 21.

AGC Political Action Committee (PAC)
It's time for AGC Arkansas members to contribute to our efforts in the public policy arena by donating to one of our political action committees (PACs).  Look for more information soon as we move forward in helping to elect/re-elect pro-construction candidates to state offices in the 2018 election cycle.

AGC launches Diversity & Inclusion Awards
AGC of America is proud to announce the launch of the AGC Diversity & Inclusion Awards program. AGC will present a total of six awards in three award categories: the Diversity & Inclusion Excellence Awards, the Chapter Diversity & Inclusion Award and the Diverse Business of the Year Award. These awards seek to raise awareness of the value that a diverse workforce and inclusive environment brings to a company by spotlighting diversity and inclusion champions within AGC. By recognizing these diversity and inclusion champions, AGC hopes to inspire other AGC member-companies to engage in activities that will promote diversity and inclusion both within the Association and the industry. Applications are due by November 15, 2017.
